Grind SZN

What is going on everyone? Sorry I haven't been blogging in a while, I have been incredibly busy recently. So let me tell you guys exactly what we have done this week. On Monday we had finished filming (or so we thought) and began the editing process. We are practically finished with our project as of now, but we still have some more to do. We realized that the first 30 seconds of our film did not get the message we wanted to get across and it looked quite choppy, so we had re-filmed all of the opening sequence, and we also re-filmed Blake's scene as it just simply looked odd and out-of-place. We decided that we would be in crunch time now for the rest of the weekend until April 11th, which is when the projects are due.

Today we will finally film the voice-over, because we wanted to watch the entire opening, and make sure that the voice-over correlated and made sense with the entire piece. We knew that we would have complications as all groups do, so we are glad that we finished filming somewhat early because it takes a lot of stress away from us. However, we are quite worrisome about finding a song to put in the background in our opening sequence, as well as some of our opening scenes. We would find a song that sounds good for a few seconds, but then the beat completely changed and we realized we would not be able to use that song. Choosing the song is also something that my group and I will have to do today. We also decided that we cannot use a song that is actually published as we will not have enough time to get permission, so our song will have to be on a royalty-free website such as Purple Planet. I have the ACT tomorrow, yes on the first week of spring break, so I know that we are going to have to finish this today so that I only have to do my CCR and focus on my own personal aspect of the project.

During the editing process, something that we thought would be interesting would be the freeze frame effect that is on iMovie, which my group will incorporate into our film opening. We were amazed at this discovery because it simply made our jobs much easier. Another great effect was the stabilizer effect, something that we found very efficient for our moving shots which we used a handmade dolly for. It is a very good feeling to be done with a huge chunk of this project. But I have a script to write, so I will catch up with you all later. Thanks for reading!!!!!

Searching for Props

Hey everyone! Today marks our last day of filming (hopefully) and I am incredibly excited to get this project truly in the editing process and furthermore, almost completed. These next couple of days are truly crunch time as the due date for everything, including the CCR, is just 9 days. I took it upon myself to wake up this morning and try to find some props for what we would use to film our opening sequence, which consists of putting our names on multiple miscellaneous objects.

For the doctor job, I was thinking that we would show the back of a person wearing scrubs and to the right of the doctor, on his tools, we would have our names on his tools, most likely just one of our names as we cannot fit all three on just one tool. For the lawyer position, I was thinking about filming a nicely-dressed man or woman and filming the character putting down his or her briefcase and on the briefcase would be a few of our names, most likely finishing the part of the "Directed by" parts. We also wanted to film an actor, and the prop we would use would be something similar to like a director's chair, and on the chair would be "Starring:" and we would go on throughout the rest of the first opening sequence stating our cast of the film. The real estate position would just use a sold by sign, with more of our casting members displayed on the screen, and the final job would be a teacher, and the object displayed would be an apple with the final casting name written on it. The opening sequence would then fade to black, and transition into the office scene. Below I am going to attach some pictures of what these objects would look like, just in case some of them are not clear.
Director's Chair

Ok, so for some odd reason, when I try to implement more pictures into the blog it is not allowing me. Sorry for any inconvenience but I must start to get to the end of this blog as I have an incredibly busy day of filming. I hope you all got a little more insight to the rest of our film opening, and I am very excited to put some sneak peeks and raw footage in majority of my blogs next week. Thanks for reading and happy Sunday!!!

Changes to Intro

Hello everyone! Today in class Camy and I were thinking through our entire project, and we came to the conclusion that we would need to make changes to the opening sequence. We decided that in order to incorporate all of our names into the sequence, it would be best to display specific conventions for multiple careers, with our names displaying on separate props. An example of this would be a real estate agent putting down a "SOLD" sign with our names on it to include all of our names. We also decided that we would try to change up Blake and Camila's scene, which we will film today. The changes to Blake and Camila's scene are minimal; we just decided on changing some of the costuming.

Camy and I were brainstorming all class to try to think about what changes we should put into our first opening. We wrote all of our ideas on a piece of paper, so I can show you all our thought process.

We decided that using a montage of children growing up would be a great intro, but it would not look very good and it would be difficult to film. Due to our schedules and our resources, we decided that our opening sequences would show multiple jobs with our names displayed on miscellaneous objects.

My group and I also are going to begin the editing process of the office scene we had recorded previously. The office scene will last around 45 seconds, and we have decided exactly what clips we would be using for the scene. It has come to my attention that I also must start writing the script for our voice-over, and begin to think of what exactly I will say, as well as practice the script so that it will be cohesive and clear when we incorporate it into our film opening.

I hope you all will enjoy this film opening once we finish the project. I am incredibly excited to go and finally finish filming and begin the final editing process and voice-over integration. Thanks for reading!!!
